The StoryWe arrived at the hospital Thursday morning for one of our twice-a-week non-stress tests for Baby Moses-- not intending to have a baby that day! But Sara's contractions had picked up a bit and been regular for over a day, so after some discussion with our midwife, we decided to let her break Sara's water to help get things going a little stronger. She broke Sara's water at 11:30am.
After a brief period of fetal monitoring, we took a walk around the hospital grounds (which includes vistas of flowering rhododendron and a backdrop of Grandfather Mtn.---there are certainly worse places to labor!) and grabbed lunch in the cafeteria. While we were eating lunch in our room, Sara's amniotic fluid decided to make a grander appearance (!), and active labor kicked in much harder. We labored in the room for a while and then a wise nurse prepared a hot bath for Sara where she finished the transition phase. Two and a half hours and a few pushes later, at 3:37pm on Thursday, May 13th, our son Moses William Osborne was born! He was 8 lbs. 1 oz. and 21 inches long.
Praise the Lord for a healthy baby and Mommy. We're now resting at home--a new family of 5--enjoying getting to know our new little guy. Thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement along the way. We can wait for you to meet our newest addition!
